A NEW HOME FOR BELLPORT ARTS & FRAMING

While Four Seasons Hair Salon
owner Joyce Brodie is retiring after
her significantly stellar stint making
women look beautiful, another
shop will be moving into her space
spreading beauty in a different way.
LuAnn Thompson of Bellport Arts
& Framing will take over the keys
and plans on officially opening on
Halloween. The 1,300-square-foot
shop will enable Thompson to utilize
more production space; specifically a
large format printer so customers can
make prints from their digital cameras.
“I will be able to have ready-made
frames,” she said. “I will be selling
Bellport T-shirts and cards.”
Thompson started her business
literally under the stairs of the
Phoenix Gallery. “I had a little table
and little spot. Every one of my long
time customers have known they
first came to see me under the steps.
That was for four years. Then I dove
into this shop, it’s 560 square-feet for
three years, and got an award for best
layout for a small space from Décor
Magazine. (It’s on their website.)
Thompson has ideas for her new
digs. “I want to have a raffle for people
on our mailing list,” she said. No
longer will customer orders be stashed
out front in the new space. Still, that
personal feeling will remain. “I think
in a small town, it is nice for people to
have that smaller area,” she said.
